Schönram Grünhopfen Pils (Fresh Hop German Pilsner - Single x 11.2 oz.)
Fresh Hop German Pilsner / Germany / 5.0%
Schönram Grünhopfen Pils is a special seasonal beer. The freshly-harvested Hersbrucker and Spalter Select hops are brought directly from the farm to the brewery and immediately processed undried. The harvest windows usually overlap and the farms from which Schönramer get them are only 25 km apart, so it only takes one trip to pick them up and bring them back to the brewery. This creates the typical taste of the hop harvest, which is also retained in the beer. Grünhopfen Pils has a straw to golden yellow color. On the nose there is a floral scent, especially aromas of rose petals. The taste is somewhat reminiscent of a citrus fruit note with some pine resin. A fine perlage transports the hops to the palate with fruity nuances like wild berries and blueberries, and depending on the maturity of the beer sometimes a little strawberry. Notes of cherry brandy and a bit of peppermint round it off. It finishes quite dry, as you would expect from a Pilsner, with the citrus fruit and blueberry notes persisting throughout.
