Schönram Festbier (Märzen - Single x 16.9 oz.)
Märzen / Germany / 6.2%
Schönram’s Festbier is a classic Bavarian-style Märzen and, as such, a winter beer brewed only between St. Michael’s Day (October) and St. George’s Day (mid-April). The copper color comes from using Vienna malts and Hallertau hops. The intensive and expensive decoction mash ensures a good yield from the malt and high attenuation (meaning that a lot of alcohol is produced and few residual sugars remain - any perceived sweetness is a result of the 6.2% ABV). The Märzen-style is nearly extinct, but they’ve kept this long tradition alive in their Festbier because they believe that its darker, stronger, and more fortifying character fit so well with the cold season. Festbier has become one of their best sellers and it sells fast at the brewery.
