Neverland Wines, Cabernet Sauvignon
Santa Barbara County, California, 2017 (750 ml)
As a vine nursery field man, Andrew Jones, of Field Recordings Winery, has spent many hours exploring vineyards, planning, planting, and chatting with farmers all over the Central Coast. He began spotting more and more interesting and overlooked vineyards - often rocky, wilder sites located closer to the Pacific, farmed mindfully by clients who have become friends over many years. He started working with these grapes, and found that they offer a beautiful representation of the Californian terroir. This led him to start the “Neverland Wines” label to highlight these wild grapes!
This Cabernet Sauvignon is perfect for changing temperatures! Don’t expect this big, over-oaked, jammy Cabernet you may see around this region. Instead, the Neverland Cabernet offers a fresh, bright, and quaffable red wine lifted by a well-structured acidity. But this doesn’t mean it is simple in any way. This wine still spent ten long years aging in oak barrels! Enjoy a layered flavor profile of black currant, spearmint and bacon fat spilling into kirsch, blueberries and hints of tobacco.
