Langhe, Piedmont, Italy 2015 (750 ml)
Nebbiolo is possibly the greatest of all the Italian grapes. Nebbiolo grows almost exclusively in the northwestern reaches of the peninsula, most notably Piedmont, where it thrives in the DOCGs Barolo and Barbaresco. Nebbiolo ripens very late (usually mid October) and when fully ripe has abundant amounts of flavor, aroma, acidity and tannins. The very best Barolo can take decades to reach maturity but today many winemakers are producing styles that are designed to be drunk much younger. These fresher styles are usually full of fresh red fruits and violets. This wine is 100% Nebbiolo and has those notes one expects in a Barolo designed to be drunk young with nice touches of violets and a hint of rose petals on the intense and lingering finish.
