Cantina Marilina Sikelé, Nero d’Avola

Angelo Paternò worked for 25 years as the winemaker and technical director for other Sicilian wineries and then bought 60 hectares on a hill in the southeastern Sicilian province of Siracusa. He handed the reins over to his daughters, Marilina and Federica. They grow organically and favor strict minimal intervention and additives in the cellar. The Sikelé Nero d'Avola is vinified in concrete tanks, which captures the freshness of the fruit and shows aromas of red fruits and berries with notes of pepper, tobacco, and stone.
