Born in Bormio, Valtellina, in the Italian Alps near the Swiss border,
this amaro was created by a chemist named Dr. Francesco Peloni in
1875.  Braulio is somewhat unique for its long aging in Slavonian Oak
(2 years). Most amari are not oak aged, rather they get their color
from caramel coloring (Braulio is also caramel colored). Though
Braulio’s history dates back to 1875, it’s only been in the United
States since 2013. Braulio specifically has conceded that because of
the vagaries of aging and locally sourcing , and the fact that demand
outstrips supply, the bottlings taste a little different with each
seasonal bottling. This is their early 2021 United States release.
